Smooth Transition Dock Leveller
New from Caljan Rite-Hite is its smooth transition dock leveller. This ingenious development of the common dock leveller eliminates »dock shock«, a phenomenon that raises health and safety concerns and causes stock damage.
Launched in the UK in July 2007, the smooth transition dock leveller features special front and rear hinge designs, which reduce or remove gaps between the leveller components and the dock itself. This means that a forklift truck travelling over the leveller will experience 76% less shock loading when compared to a traditional leveller.
Bumping and jarring occurs when a fork lift truck travels from a loading dock into a vehicle trailer. These shocks are transmitted to the truck operators' neck and back, and over a period of time will cause fatigue or more serious injuries. These same shocks will damage stock and reduce loading efficiency. A smooth transition leveller will significantly reduce or eliminate these problems.
At a loading bay, dock levellers bridge the gap between the trailer and the dock. A dock leveller has a front hinged lip, and a rear hinge to allow the leveller to bridge the height difference between the dock and the trailer bed. On a Smooth Transition Dock Leveller, the front lip hinge arrangement includes features that distribute the load evenly across the leveller platform and ensures the lip and the trailer bed are perfectly aligned to reduce jolting. This also extends the hinge life. |
